Colouring with copics

Ar the moment I'm into colouring.
I stamped some images from Scrapberrys and Blossom and coloured them with Copic Ciao's.

This time I tried no line colouring by stamping with a light (copper) colour.
I think I prefer the black lines..

My first penny black stamp

Today I got my first two Penny Black stamps; delicate florals and botanical notes.
I used the latter to create a mini card; I used distress ink and a mini blender tool to put some light green on the background. Then I stamped the image with Memento black and after that colored the image with distress ink.
I am totally in love with this stamp and the way this card turned out!

Sketch Saturday week #335

Craft Emotions Facebook wedstrijd

Misschien iets kleinere kralen gebruiken, of zo?

Mini distress ink storage

I got a lot of mini distress ink set when they were released. Though you can stack them they seem to open up before they get separated. So I created three heavy duty paper storage units each able to contain eight inkpads. And a cardboard box to stack them in.

The box still needs to be covered but I'm already using it.

Creative day with my sisters

Last week I had a creative day with my oldest and youngest sister. We always choose a theme and this time it was stamps. We brought our stamps and stamping ink and some stencils too. I created a bunch of cards and some backgrounds.

We will be creating a card for each other with the images we stamped. I will be showing them when they have got them.

ICAD 2014 the best of

The best of ICAD 2014

ICAD 2014 week 9 recap

Prompts: carousel, zebra, angel, astronaut and thread.
Theme: doodling.
And the extra bonus prompt: a blind one-line selfie (I actually made two).
And now it's over; what a great experience this has been.. So many people cheering each other on, inspiring others, showing good and lesser works of art and experimenting.. I will surely be back next year!

ICAD 2014 61/61: thread

Final ICAD; I how I'm gonna miss that group of ICAD enthusiasts on FB..
Background made with drops of acrylic paint. Several threads stitched together freehand on the machine.

ICAD 2014 60/61: astronaut

Background made with home-made modelling paste and acrylic paint.

ICAD 2014 59/61: angel

Angel was the name of a guinea pig we used to have. Doodles in the letters.

ICAD 2014: blind one-line selfie

I decided to take the challenge to draw a blind one-line selfie. Actually I made three.. I colored two with distress ink.

ICAD 2014 week 8 recap

Week theme: drawing and painting.
Prompts: elephant, monster or octopus, rainbow, mushroom, fern leaf/tree or feather, jewel and turquoise.

Thursday, 24 July 2014

ICAD 2014 56/61: turquoise

Card was a leftover from the nailpolish prompt; I thought it had some turquoise on it and I filled the gaps in with blue and green watercolor paint to create a turquoise color.

ICAD 2014 55/61: jewel

I didn't have any inspiration and I don't wear jewelry so I thought this quote was appropriate. Prepped background made with acrylic paint, gesso and a plastic card. Text written with fineliner.

ICAD 2014 54/61: fern leaf/tree or feather

Background created when I did the background for the monster. Acrylic paint dropped on card an smeared with a plastic card. I thought it looked like fern leaves so I decided to save it for this prompt. I added a feather I collected on a walk last weekend with this prompt in mind.

ICAD 2014 53/61: mushroom

Drawing in ordinary blue pen; drawing in pen leaves no margin for error but somehow I like it. I love doodling on the newspaper with pens.

ICAD 2014 52/61: rainbow

Painted with watercolor in pinwheel setting. Embossed with a circular pinwheel stencil. Embossed parts highlighted with chalk pastel.

Monday, 21 July 2014

ICAD 2014 51/61: monster or octopus

Background made by dropping paint on the card and smearing with a plastic card. Bug was drawn from a photograph my husband took yesterday in the wash-lands close to our home. Cut and painted the bug and glued it to the background.

ICAD 2014 50/61: elephant

This week I'm focusing on drawing and painting. Drew an elephant and with Elmer (who has colorful squares on his body) in mind I created a squared background. Water colored background and elephant.

ICAD 2014 47/61: purple

Pieces of purple paper on an index card.

ICAD 2014 45/61: dala horse

Another one I had to google; never heard of this one either. Saw a picture in Warhol style and decided to do that too. Printed dala horse images and cut then out. Painted 4 colors on a card and adhered the (painted) horses with foam blocks.

ICAD 2014 44/61: kokeshi doll

I have to admit I had no idea what a kokeshi doll was until I googled it.
I cut out the body part in different sizes an put origami paper behind it. Cut hair from black cardstock and drew the faces. Nothing special but I got to go through my large stack of origami papers.. I'm not folding any more but I did an origami piece on one ICAD and the papers will also look great in a journal or on a card!

Sunday, 13 July 2014

ICAD 2014 43/61: violin or cello

Chalk pastel with misted water.
Black charcoal accents.

ICAD 2014 42/61: text

Writing with my old calligraphy pens. Simple but I must practice my lettering more often.

ICAD 2014 41/61: moon

This card is dedicated to my mothers friend who passed away today. They were only together for two and a half year. Prepped background with stars, circle cut from a printed scrap page matted in light brown cardstock. Text written with technical pens on calquer paper.

ICAD 2014 overview

These are all ICAD's and warming up exercises up till day 36. Only 25 to go!
It sure makes a nice colorful collection.

ICAD 2014 storage box

I decided I wanted to store my ICAD's in a storage box, and since I can't find any suitable boxes I made my own. I made a maquette with printer paper to get the measurements right. Unfortunately my designer paper wasn't big enough so I made two pieces and glued them together. Needs some extra embellishments and I'm still looking for a way to close it.

ICAD 2014 36/61: tag or label

Background is a large tag I got buying craft supplies; cut the remainder into strips and distressed them. Added a label from a shirt, distressed as well an tied it all together with some straw.

ICAD 2014 35/61: postage stamp

Made a background from a print with postage stamps on it. Folded a birthday card so that the stamp is on the outside. Added another stamp and a paper flower.

ICAD 2014: 33/61: Tomorrowland

I struggled with this prompt, but decided to use a prepped card and add some tape with things that I think are important for the future. Card prepped with homemade modeling paste and colored with paint and water. I love the texture of it!

ICAD 2014 34/61: independance day or flag

Herringbone technique with wallpaper samples in the colors of our flag. Drew the outline of the Metherlands on vellum and made a flag and pennant from scraps of wallpaper. Lovely technique I will be using more often!

ICAD 2014 32/61: coffee or tea

Background made with paper napkin; I used the second layer because it has more subtle colors. Remembered I used to do tea bag sleeves origami about 20 years ago and having seen some origami designs on other cards lately I dug up my books and rescued some tea bag sleeve from the paper bin to create these flowers. Drew stems and leaves and embroidered them. I am embroidering a lot on cards lately usually I use a predefined pattern. Love how this turned out!
