ICAD 2014 recap week 4

Favorite card this week: the brown feather and the magnifying glass; two totally different cards..
So we finished week 4 of 9 already! I am still keeping up; sometimes doing two or three cards at a time because I am in the flow of creating..lots of chalk pastel with water cards this week, so I think I'll need to try something different next week. I started experimenting with my spritzer and the mini distress ink pads.

ICAD 2014 26/61: magnifying glass

ICAD 2014 26/61: magnifying glass
Card prepped with gesso; two circles with pen, added handles to form magnifiers and colored with markers. Drew a little flower with ink and a calligraphic pen point which blurred the left bottom part of the card. Did the rest with my Mignon markers. On the right I drew a tiny butterfly of 20 mm that I photographed the other day. Added a smaller one on top and colored both with markers.

ICAD 2014 25/61: maple leaf

Prepped card with watercolor. Printed and cut some leaves. Used one as a mask with my new spritzer. Didn't like the outcome so I put the mask back and stitched this and another leaf onto the card.

ICAD 2014 24/61: brown

ICAD 2014 24/61: brown
I found this lovely feather by the pond. I tried to draw it with chalk pastel and water. I love this technique at the moment.

ICAD 2014 23/61: star wars

ICAD 2014 23/61: Star Wars
This background was made trying my brush pens but it was too bright to put letters on top. When I gessoed over it the colors started bleeding but I liked it. I used a stencil to make the letters and used the brush pens to add some volume to the letters.

ICAD 2014 week 3 recap

Overview of the third week of the Index-card-a-day challenge.

ICAD 2014 21/61: repeating pattern

Two cards: top one with tissue paper found today at the Action (local shop like dollar store). Couldn't stamp on it so I stamped on scrap paper, cut it out and used foam for 3D effect. Bottom one was a prepped card that I used to try out my handcarved stamps. I added a layer of another handcarved stamp on top for the repeating pattern.

ICAD 2014 19/61: Harry Potter
Prepped background that I found appropriate for the brain well in the movie. Added some drawings of Harry, the train, the trophy and a snake. Totally blew those drawings, but posting it anyway.

ICAD 2014 13/61: Book review

Torn pages from an old book stapled to n index card that I wrote favorite book titles on. Simple and fast card.

ICAD 2014 11/61: Toy camera

This piggy was born while using the leftover black and white paint from the Beatles prompt. I die cut a circle from a yellow card and added punched circles from balloon cardstock. Because of the two layers I couldn't punch out the handle so I hand carved it.

Tuesday, 10 June 2014

ICAD 2014 10/61: the Beatles

Black and white paint with grey speckles to create a pedestrian crossing. Stamped four Volkswagen Beetles and used 3D foam to adhere.

Monday, 9 June 2014

ICAD 2014 9/61: Alphabet

I cut up a previous try-out of my new brush pens.. that didn't work so I did some lettering on the back an glued those pieces onto a prepped card.

Friday, 6 June 2014

ICAD 6/61: nail polish

Nail polish in water picked up with the card. Added some magazine scraps from nail polish bottles cut to nail shape.

Wednesday, 4 June 2014

ICAD 5/61: Galaxy

I started with a paper collage and painted over it with gesso and paint. Added some stars with a mask and gesso. It didn't turn out as I planned. The stars reminded me of the song about the famous Dutch painter Vincen Van Gogh so I decided to add some lyrics. Since I am working on 3x5 cards I needed some small lettering. I remembered we used to write with Rotring engineering pens and stencils in high school so I looked up my stuff and was glad to see I could still use it. I liked it so much I am planning on buying some thing to make the set complete again.

ICAD 4/61 Puzzle

ICAD 4/61: Puzzle

ICAD 2/61: Circus tent

Index-card-a-day Challenge Day 2: Circus Tent

Afro Circus Afro Circus Stippeltje Stippeltje Stiippeltje Afro (from Madagascar 3)

Afro Circus Afro Circus Polkadot Polkadot Polkadot Afro (from Madagascar 3)

I wanted to do something with a polkadot so I went through my fabric stash because I remembered some bright colored fabric for the cricus tent and then I ran into this lovely white/red polkadot.
I adhered the fabric to the background and cut a peace of the coordinating red striped fabric for the tent.
Added leftover straws and ribbon. Looking for some additional fabric lion that I know has to be somewhere.
I seem to be into paper and fabric scrapping at the moment.

Creative start of the summer ICA 1/61: Prism

This year I'm participating in a creative challenge: Index Card A Day by Daisy Yellow.
The goal of the challenge is to be creative for 61 days in a row (June and July).
There are prompt and themes but they are all optional. It is just about having fun and not being afraid to fail. Because you use super cheap materials there is nothing keeping you back from experimenting.

After doing some warm ups, we finally started of on June 1st with the prompt Prism.
The prompt Prism directed me to a beam of light, a prism and a rainbow; kind of like on the Pink Floyd album. I started out with a piece of paper that I folded into half a prism. Then I started looking for some silver paper and found this lovely rainbow colored origami paper. I decide to use part of the paper as background and the rest to form some rays. Punched circles from the silver paper and some glitter paper I found as well. The magazine clipping "It's the sunshine" seemed very appropriate, so I added it to the background. Put the prism and rays on top and finished it with a black marker.
I really enjoyed creating this card!
